NBA Free Agent Malik Beasley Faces Eviction and Lawsuits Amid FBI Gambling Probe

Malik Beasley’s Career in Limbo Amid Gambling Investigation

NBA free agent Malik Beasley is facing a wave of legal and personal challenges as reports surface about a federal investigation into his alleged involvement in gambling connected to NBA games and proposition bets.

Beasley, who played for the Detroit Pistons during the 2024–25 season, had been living in a downtown Detroit high-rise. However, an eviction order was recently filed against the 28-year-old, just two months after he was sued for failing to pay rent to his landlord.

Multiple Rent Lawsuits and Eviction Orders

This is not the first time Beasley has faced rental disputes. Court records show he has been sued twice for allegedly missing rent payments totaling $21,500 for a luxury unit owned by Bedrock Detroit, a real estate company controlled by Cleveland Cavaliers owner Dan Gilbert.

After Beasley failed to respond to the second lawsuit, a default judgment was issued in favor of the landlord.

Contract Talks Stalled Amid FBI Gambling Probe

Before the FBI’s gambling probe made headlines, Beasley’s representatives were reportedly in discussions with the Pistons on a potential multi-year contract. Those negotiations have now been clouded by the ongoing investigation.

Beasley’s attorney, Steve Haney, emphasized that his client has not been formally charged with any crime at this time.

Additional Legal Disputes Over Contract Breach

Beyond the rent lawsuits, Beasley is also facing a lawsuit from Hazan Sports Management Group. The agency claims Beasley breached his contract by failing to repay a $650,000 advance before the termination of their agreement.

Beasley Hints at Possible NBA Return

Despite his mounting legal troubles, Beasley has not ruled out a return to the Pistons and has suggested other NBA teams are also showing interest.

“We gotta be prepared to come back to the Pistons, or, like I said, there’s some other teams interested as well,” Beasley said in a recent social media post.
