At 94 years old, Barbara Eden is proving that her magic is still very much alive.
The beloved actress, best known for her role as the enchanting genie in the classic sitcom “I Dream of Jeannie,” celebrated her birthday on August 23 with a playful tribute to the character that made her a household name.
On Instagram, Eden delighted fans by striking her signature genie pose, instantly transporting her 130,000 followers back to the golden era of television. “Let’s all take a moment to wish our favorite blonde, entertainment icon and Hollywood legend Barbara Eden a very, VERY Happy Birthday today!” the caption read.
To mark the special day, Eden was spotted stepping out of a Los Angeles hair salon, glowing in a bold red outfit paired with white sunglasses and beige sandals.

A Hollywood Legacy
Over her remarkable 70-year career, Eden has appeared in more than 25 films, 19 TV movies, and five television series, according to People. Her first big break came as a recurring performer on “The Johnny Carson Show.” Still, she remains most celebrated for her role as Jeannie, the mischievous genie who falls in love with astronaut Major Tony Nelson (played by Larry Hagman).
The series, which aired from 1965 to 1970, ran for five successful seasons and cemented Eden’s status as a pop culture icon. Fittingly, the show will celebrate its 60th anniversary on September 18, 2025.

Secrets to Staying Young
Eden has never kept her vitality a secret. Speaking to Fox News Digital in 2024, she explained how she keeps both body and mind active.
“I used to work out all the time,” she said. “I did spinning classes and weight training with a trainer. When COVID hit, that all stopped. Now I use a stationary bike at home and lift small five-pound weights. They’re light, but they’re great for your bones.”
Although she enjoys the flexibility of home workouts, Eden admitted she misses the energy of exercising in a group. “I liked the camaraderie of spinning classes. They got you moving. I’m not much of a self-starter, so I have to push myself to get on the bike.”
She encouraged fans to experiment with different activities to keep fitness fun. “I remember when aerobics were all the rage. I tried it—it wasn’t for me. But walking briskly? That’s perfect. It’s easy on the knees and ankles and better for me than running.”

Balanced Living and Indulgence
Beyond exercise, Eden credits her longevity to a philosophy of moderation, something instilled by her parents. “My mother’s mantra was ‘moderation in all things,’ and that stuck with me,” she explained.
Still, she enjoys indulging in her favorite foods. “I love Italian and German cuisine. Schnitzel with lemon is wonderful. Growing up in San Francisco, we had the best Italian and Chinese food. My friend says New York has better, but I disagree.”
And like many, Eden has a sweet tooth. “I’m a sugar eater,” she confessed with a laugh. “I love key lime pie, angel food cake with lemon icing, and chocolates of all kinds. If you want to make me happy, just give me something sweet.”
A Timeless Beauty Routine
Even in her 90s, Eden maintains a simple yet effective skincare regimen. “I wash my face with Cetaphil every night and use Estée Lauder’s Repair Serum. I’ve used serums since I was a teenager. Clean skin is essential. I never go to bed with makeup on—I always cleanse and moisturize.”
Her years in Hollywood also taught her professional makeup tricks. “I learned eyeliner from the best makeup artists on set. I never thought I could do it myself until they showed me. Nowadays, it’s easier to learn. I remember being in the hospital once, and the nurses had the most beautiful lashes—it felt like I was back on set.”
Staying Connected
Eden believes her fans have kept her spirit alive. “Connecting with them is so important. They’re the nicest people—polite, respectful, fun to be around, no matter where I go.”
When asked what has fueled her drive all these years, she admitted she doesn’t think about it much. “Maybe a psychologist would say I want to stay productive and not sit idle. Even if I weren’t in entertainment, I’d find work to keep busy. If you don’t try, you do nothing—and that’s not good. Staying active and engaged is everything to me.”
